“If people don’t laugh at your dreams, your dreams are not big enough.”

This is Simon King’s favourite quote. It’s inspired him to create big business dreams – and achieve them!

Simon moved into Banyule digiDECL in November, 2015, seeking a friendly, convenient space for entrepreneurs and startup businesses. His business is Total Tablets.

Back in 2012, Simon saw an opportunity in the market to blend three business processes into one: marketing, technology, and today’s mobile consumer. He incorporated Total Tablets and now works with businesses to help them blend conventional business with digital business.

Prior to starting up this digital agency, Simon successfully ran a marketing company called King Pro Marketing for twelve years. His clients included AAPT, Optus, Vodafone, Telstra, Citibank, AMEX, and a wide range of charities. The company was in every major capital city in Australia and had a yearly turnover of around 1.1 million per year.

In 2011, Simon closed the business down and took a year off to focus on his new family. During this time, he attended a business event in the US, and was inspired by this quote about the iPhone:

This is not a phone. It’s the cheapest computer ever.

Soon after, Simon incorporated Total Tablets with the dream of consulting in business strategies involving iPads and tablets, mobile sales teams, web development, and mobile workforces. The company is currently going strong.

Simon’s successes with King Pro Marketing and Total Tablets have proven his entrepreneurial and marketing strengths. He believes the three biggest difficulties that he’s had to overcome are financial management; over-promising and under-delivering; and reevaluating goals.

Thinking back, Simon would have liked to have had coaching and mentoring to assist with his startup development.

And looking ahead, Simon aims to have 5 employees at this time next year, servicing 60 customers. In 3 years, he aims to have 20 staff and 200 customers. In ten years?

He wants to be working from home in a Gold Coast mansion!

We wish Simon the best of luck with these goals.
